This product is shipped folded in a zip lock plastic bag. The sides are made of some kind of thick cardboard material covered with outer and inner fabric. One side of the bed was slightly warped but not enough to make me want to return it. The level of quality is reasonable for the price. There is a hole in the corner of the box for the cable to come out through, allowing the box to sit flat. Good length cord. The pillow is soft and warms well and 2/3 cats still love it. The inner black fabric covering the box is a low profile fleece-like material. So if you have light colored cats you can see the fur on it and it needs to be vacuumed. The fabric handles have an odd feel and don't lay flat, which could choke small, feral kittens. However, the handles make the device look more like a decorative box than a cat bed, so this aspect of the style might be appealing to some. Pictured is a fluffy kitten weighing 7lbs (6 months old), our oldest girl is 8lbs and she is comfortably curled up leaving room. If your cat is large or stretched out, this may not be for them. For larger animals or for couples who like to snuggle together, the manufacturer may consider a rectangular shape.
