Advantages: + runs with the ubiquitous 5V (older competitor devices still need 12V) + low power consumption: the encoder gets hot in continuous operation. use but don't heat up (the device seems to dissipate heat through the metal HDMI connector when connected to a larger metal device) + simple web interface with enough functionality for most home users + compact and lightweight, can be directly connected to another device if space allows, no installation required + comes with three extra cables (no power adapter which I personally don't need anyway) + built-in zoom works well and allows you to reduce the size of the image and stream + instant effect no reboot required when changing video settings or sound Cons: - expected delay between input and output is 1-2 seconds; make it difficult to use a remote device on a connected device, but is an acceptable compromise - a static IP address is set (I would prefer DHCP by default, connecting directly to a specific subnet is an issue)
