I rated the fit as "a little big" but deliberately ordered my son half a size up as he has wide feet and a high instep what makes the purchase slippery. uncomfortable on shoes. Phone call. He said he really liked them and that they were very comfortable and just a little big. I think this will make them pretty much true to size. It's also a beautiful shoe that looks well made. If they hold up well we will definitely buy more when he grows up.
