My daughter is very small for her age (11 years old) and I was thinking about getting her a size 10 or 12. The measurement chart of 12 for this dress was larger than her measurements. However, I chose 12 after reading other reviews (which said it was a dress for a slimmer figure) and I'm glad I did. The dress fit her perfectly! So I'd say go up the size by one or two if you tend to be overweight. The dress appeared to have an even hem and the quality was very good. Beautiful and pretty dress. Machine washed and air dried, no shrinkage.
