I just had a hemilaminectomy and microdiscectomy for an L4/L5 herniated disc. I bought it to sit in my car and sit in regular chairs to support my back during my recovery and possibly longer. That's great! I also bought a loin roll which I will be returning as the strap didn't work. I like it a lot more and will probably buy a second one over time to keep in the car or at work for desk work. It's a bit bulky so you can't throw it in your pocket/purse unless it's a big bag. But I could imagine taking this thing to school. I think I'd rather have straps that go around the chair like a seat belt than a rubber band. If necessary, I can easily sew on a buckle here. I have found that I don't necessarily need a strap as I can easily adjust it and my back keeps it in place. This can be a problem while driving. Very happy with it as it already helps me to sit.
