This curtain rod works with a threaded end in an outer rod that tightens when twisted. He got up quickly and easily and had a strong hold. The problem arose when I tried to unscrew it to move it. The filaments are stuck in a locked position within the outer pole. It looks like only a couple of crimping points were holding the set screw on the inner tube (see photo with two crimping slots). I couldn't unclip it to remove it so I had to force it loose. Now I have a pole that cannot be retracted or reused. I don't think I pulled it. You could only use it once. Now it goes in the garbage. My advice: tighten it just enough to support the weight of the shower curtain and no more.
