Let's get down to business. What are the disadvantages? Waterproof housings for camera cables require the RJ45 heads to be cut off and recrimped. It's easy for me since I'm an IT pro and I do it all the time, but not so easy for normal people since you need a special crimping tool. Stupidly they didn't put a plastic tie around the wire. Strangely, there is a slot in the rubber grommet for winding the cord. Weird automatic camera numbering. Cameras connected to ports 1/2/3/4 were displayed as 2/3/4/6. The?! I checked the labels on the back, I didn't mix it up, the size is 1/2/3/4. Disconnect everything, reconnect, they show up as another set of random camera numbers. Alright, whatever, let's move on. You can only select 1 camera, 4 cameras and 9 display modes for viewing on TV. The problem is that the 4-camera view isn't smart enough to only highlight the 4 cameras that are working. Instead it is hardcoded to camera 1/2/3/4 where 4 means signal loss because the NVR recognized the 4th camera as camera 6. I can't reset this to 4 without factory resetting the NVR for a rescan. all cameras until I get 1/2/3/4. Pretty annoying again. I tried turning off all the cameras and adding them back and rescanning one by one but they were always dumb. At least you'll get them right after a few factory resets and then don't touch them. The standalone 4k Reolink POE camera I bought was constantly losing video frame 80% of the time, and the TV video always had random green/red dots scattered across the screen. So I returned everything and bought another Reolink NVR + 4 Camera Kit hoping it's a quality control issue. The new system seems to work better and the iPhone/Android app is really good compared to other NVRs. Still, this is probably the best you can buy for the current state of NVR technology. 4K cameras capture license plates perfectly even in total darkness. For some reason 4k bullets are sharper than 4k domes, so yes, if you want maximum clarity at night, go for the bullets. It's still a little weird, but once you get it the way you want it, you're just using the phone app, which is a lot better than controlling the NVR from the TV. EDIT: The latest firmware updates the NVR to support HTML5 for browsers and eliminates Flash which is not supported by all major browsers in 2021.
