Works right out of the box. It's very quiet and powerful. I just mounted mine over the horizontal slots of an Xbox 360 exhaust fan just to try to get the hot air out of the car. I also have a room cleaning air filter fan set low and pointing towards the Xbox 360 side air intake. Basically I blow air in and pull it out the other side. I was trying to move a loose fan that was currently sitting on an Xbox 360 and accidentally touched the spinning fan blades underneath. If you're not careful it will hit your fingers or whatever it falls. I loved the ability to add a grille to either the suction or exhaust side of the fan for each application, but an extra light grille on the opposite side would have been nice too - for safety and to protect the fan assembly from clumsy owners. .March 2015: It's been over a year - runs 24 hours a day (with the occasional dusting) and still runs and is still quiet.
