Good camera, incompatible external flash

First day with this camera so just discovering the possibilities, quality etc. So far the picture quality is good. My main complaint is that the included external flash is not compatible with the camera's hot shoe. The position of the pin indicates that the supplied external flash is not compatible with the camera. Luckily, the built-in flash is pretty good. Just wondering why they would include an external flash that doesn't work with the camera. In general, this package was not bad, but I was confused about the incompatible flash. So 4 instead of 5 stars.
