Review on AIDA Mugwort Pore Ampoule Toner by Jessica Lange

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A well-formulated foaming tonic with a fresh herbal scent; works well with my skin and other products.

I have used several products from AIDA and really liked them, particularly the Ultra Barrier Ampoule Cream, so I was interested in trying this ampoule/toner. I understand that this means combining the benefits of a serum and a toner into one product. While I love the idea of multi-purpose skincare products, this one is more of a toner and not a serum or vial replacement, at least for my skin. Skin care products that contain wormwood tend to work well with my skin, so I was glad that wormwood was listed as the first ingredient in this product. I have very dry and dehydrated skin that is also sensitive, so it can be difficult for me to find skin care products that work without causing irritation. This foaming tonic has a pleasant, light herbal scent that doesn't linger at all. The lather starts to thin rather quickly, but I have enough time to spread it evenly over the skin. It is light, easy to apply and absorbs quickly. It feels a bit sticky at first, and while it doesn't leave any visible shine or greasy feeling, it feels like it's leaving a light film on my face. As soon as I apply serum and moisturizer, this effect disappears. It seems to help smooth my skin and reduce the redness and tightness I often experience. I'm switching from lighter summer skincare products to heavier, richer serums and creams to help me deal with the extreme dryness I've been struggling with for the past year or so. While this toner isn't particularly hydrating on its own, it seems to enhance the hydrating and lipid-repairing abilities of my serums and creams. This toner seems to work slightly better on my skin than the propolis based toner also offered by this brand so I think it will go well with my new skincare routine. As with my other toners, I use a reasonable amount with each application so the current price of $24.99 seems a bit steep, but still within reason for this well-formulated toner. The product arrived sealed and boxed - I usually take that for granted and don't bother to comment, but I've recently received some skincare products from various sources that weren't properly sealed.
