It came vac sealed. Once I unraveled it I noticed where it’s folded needs attention so I washed it on gentle cycle with cold water. It had no chemical or bad smell upon opening, but wanted to have it clean and see how it would hold up after that wash. It’s thinner than expected, and in some spots if folded the wrong way you can see down to the mesh type material everything is holding onto. Even though it’s cheap you can’t beat a big King size blanket for $25 so for that I’m happy. I’ll be pleased if it holds up for a year or two. It’s pretty soft, keeps you warm and insulated, and mine didn’t have any holes or faded color as others mentioned. It’s a cheap blanket, only time will tell if it sheds or starts pilling after multiple washes. It feels delicate enough that I probably won’t wash it as frequently as desired
