Not suitable for over-square mattresses

They don't fit over square bassinet mattresses so I wouldn't say they're universal. My mattress is a bit warped at the moment, but LO has heartburn so leaning a little helps him. They are still soft even after several washes and the elasticity is still okay.

Pros

Easy to install and clean. Thanks to the elastic band, it is very easy to attach or remove it from the mattress/bathtub cushion. Machine washable on gentle cycle and will not warp, fade or shrink.

Cons

Infinitely sluggish
