Still classic! on Markers

A lot of people have said this, but the Tippmann A-5 is like the AK47 in the world of paintball. It's true that there are faster, lighter, and more advanced paintball guns on the market, but few can match the reliability and high level of customization that the A-5 has to offer. I've used a few modern markers before, and there's something about them that's more fun than using some of the modern space-age tools. there, and using an older marker like the A-5 more or less forces you to play better to keep up. Some might see this as a marker weakness, but I really like this aspect of the A-5. The simple version listed here is strictly semi-automatic, and the standard barrel does not offer very good long-range accuracy. However, it encourages a more conscious style of play that will ultimately be more successful on larger fields. It may seem that I'm dancing around the marker's "cons" at this stage, so I'll pause the rest of the review. more clearly down. Pros: 1. Reliable - The A-5 withstands field hits and delivers CO2 like a champ for those who prefer it. I use the hell out of this thing and none of the standard parts are worn out yet.2. Customizable - I don't think there is a single marker on sale today that has more aftermarket upgrades available than this one. You can literally turn the A-5 into almost anything for paintball. Cyclone - The 2011 version of the Cyclone feed works very well and I don't often have problems with the feed until the C02 is low. Once you hit the 400 round mark, you may have to manually feed the balls until you run out of air. On the plus side, you don't need an additional funnel unless you want a replacement low cover or a spare.4. Easy to clean and maintain. It's not as easy to clean as an open bolt marker, but still pretty easy. There are very few o-rings that require regular maintenance and keeping them well lubricated will prevent a lot of wear. Cons: 1. Heavy - I'm not a small person but the marker can get a little heavy after carrying it around all day. I definitely recommend the Remote line and I didn't add any mods just to reduce the weight.2. Loud - I've tried a few kicks and this thing will always be loud. This adds character but will also expose you very quickly if you're trying to be stealthy.3. Expensive (with necessary upgrades) - I'm not saying the price should go down, but buying a few upgrades like a trigger and a better barrel will quickly make this gun as expensive as more versatile rapid firearms. If they lowered the price of the Response Marker by a notch and reduced the cost of the base model by $30, I think that would be fairer. Outdated? - I bought one of these because I wanted it, not because I thought it would be the best. I wanted to change my game and play more consciously, and I knew that with this marker I would be more focused on the field. I wouldn't recommend it as a marker for beginners as there are some better options out there these days. The A-5 is now truly a hobbyist/enthusiast marker. Do not get me wrong. People can still dominate with this marker (I've seen it happen), but there's a steep learning curve when playing with people using speedball markers and other fully automatic markers. Overall I really enjoy using this marker but I guess it's an acquired taste. I cannot blame anyone for the purchase and I would not discourage anyone. Anyway, after that it seems too easy to use other markers so maybe this is a good place to start. I'm saving up for Phenom right now, so I can't wait to see the difference this will make. Enjoy!
