We tried filling these tubes halfway, even less than halfway, but the corks still popped out. It looks like the stick is too wide for the hole in the cork, leaving no room for air. We were thrilled when we received them because they are so beautiful. Some also had something brown, like dirt stuck to the top of the chopsticks. We wash our pipes before we use them. We noticed that before washing. The parts of the top and sticks cannot be separated, so we cannot clean them. In the end we only filled out 3 and kept them to ourselves. We had to force the vertices to stay, which causes a mess. You can see that a lot of the shine has been deliberately left out to keep the top in place. I really wanted them to work but they didn't. I put 2 only because the tubes are nice.
