Bought for our bathroom and immediately ordered 2 more for our other 2 bathrooms. The rectangular shape and size perfectly match the toilet bowl. It's smaller than I imagined, although I know its dimensions, but for the bathroom, it's all we need. Taking off half a star because while the size is perfect for plastic bags, the insert is slightly taller than a can. That means if you fold the plastic bag liner onto the liner, it's still visible even with the lid closed. I solved this problem by using a paper bag (smaller than a standard grocery bag) as the liner in the liner. (see customer pictures) I folded the top of the paper bag so that it was a few inches shorter than the liner. I put this paper liner in a plastic bag and then put it in the plastic liner. Thus, the plastic bag is not visible. The plastic bag keeps that paper bag clean, so you can keep using the same paper bag and just throw away the plastic bag. I like the soft-closing lid - it closes gently without flapping. If you open the lid manually or keep your foot on the pedal, it stays open. . . When you use the foot pedal, it opens and then starts closing almost immediately. It only stays open for about a second, giving you plenty of time to toss your litter. As a side note, we have a litter box in our bathroom and there isn't enough room for a scoop of the litter box. I solved this problem by purchasing a stainless steel Amco magnetic pocket organizer with notepad and pen. It magnetically sticks to the rim of this bin and is the perfect place to store the dustpan. He's made for it.
