Voices Baby plush hippopotamus light and pleasant to touch. The sound/light box is located in the hippo's belly. The on/off switch and volume controls for low/high volume are located on the sound box and a switch activates both. I turned the volume up high and it's pretty loud at this level. Please don't hesitate to listen to the video above, it was recorded at high volume. Once the sound/light box is installed back into the hippo's belly, it's easy to use. Press once and it plays the song. Click again to change the song. A long press stops the song. Very easy to use. When my baby cries, it will automatically play a song and soothe them for a while. It's amazing how well it works. The hippo does not contain 3 AA batteries and you will need a small Phillips screwdriver to open and secure the battery compartment. The hippo is slightly larger than a regular water bottle, but is lightweight and will grow with you. This soft cuddly hippo makes a great gift and I would have no hesitation in buying this if we ever lose or need to replace the hippie hippo! We love it!
