I have a 10 year old mini dachshund with MPD who still has unstable hind legs despite surgery. These little boots are a godsend for him as they provide extra traction on tile and wood floors to keep him from slipping and hurting his back. Since he wears them most of the day I modify them by cutting small holes in the top to allow air to circulate to keep him cooler (see photo). If your dog has stability issues due to spinal discs, arthritis, hip dysplasia, etc., these boots can get them back into an active life. My dog's confidence and happiness is 10 times better when wearing boots. It was a real game changer for him and me - far less worrying about another back injury. It takes some practice to put on and take off, but it didn't take long for my dog to learn to stay in place. I think he understands that his boots allow him to walk without pain. They also allow him to do the exercises he needs to keep his legs, back and core strong and help prevent new injuries in the long run. If you are considering these boots, please try them. They are not expensive and my dog can wear the same pair of boots for weeks until they stretch. One pack is enough for several months.
