Review on 🚁 SYMA X1 Quadcopter UFO - 4 Channel 2.4G RC Drone by Matt Tbone

Fun - flies great. Aerobatics too!

Syma is a great RC toy for beginners. I have the famous S107 helicopter and it works great. This is my first ATV. Decided to go cheap to get my feet wet and dust off my rusty flying skills, then eventually upgrade to an ATV or Hex for aerial photography fun (probably a DJI Phantom or similar). Box opened, battery charged (a few minutes). , hooked up the radio and smoothly hovered on first launch. (I had to do a bit of googling to figure out the pairing procedure as the manual is poorly written to say the least. See the procedure below. One star for the confusing manual.) It's very slick and easy to use. Response in "Low" mode is ideal for beginners, very manual. The "High" mode reduces gyro stabilization and increases response, but remains very smooth for me. The X1 has a feature that Syma oddly calls "Eversion". This is a help function. Hold the button and move the joystick right, left, forward, or backward and the X1 will perform a quick 360-degree turn/roll in that direction. Very cool! You will lose some altitude, so start the maneuver from a good height. (According to my dictionary, eversion means "the turning inside out" or "the state of being turned inside out." It comes from the Latin word for "turn over," so I think it fits.) Don't try to fly the X1 outdoors, so be it for the air is not very still. It's so light that the slightest breeze will push the bird or, as has happened to me, carry it over the fence in seconds. Luckily I got there before the neighbor's dog. Indoors, too, it is affected by drafts and air conditioning ventilation. When attempting to set up controls, use a draft-free room. Pairing procedure: 1) Charge the battery and plug it into X1. (Immediately place it on a flat surface to allow the onboard controller to calibrate itself - this is not mentioned in the manual.) 2) The red LED under the hood will blink rapidly. While it is flashing, switch Tx to ON. After a few seconds, the red LED on X1 lights up. The pairing process is complete. You only need to connect Tx to Rx once. 3) For subsequent flights, turn on Tx first, then install battery in X1. (Be sure to place it on a flat surface.) The LED will flash quickly (searching) and then turn on (ready).
