When it was new it smelled strongly of chemicals. I have a month and everything is fine. My kittens just live it up. They chew it and scratch it too. I was a bit worried about how it would hold up based on other reviews. It was worth a try given the many good reviews. It shows some signs of wear, but it's far from over. I expect this to last for years! The kittens are now big enough that they can knock it over on purpose by grabbing it with their mouths! Not an easy task, but a lot of fun. The balls inside are fun, but scratching and running through the tunnel and the king of the hill is even more fun! Highly recommended to all cat owners. My kittens are opposite personalities and they both love it!
