An unfortunate change in an old, reliable product.
Due to the overwhelming sickening smell, it is impossible to keep an unwrapped bar of this soap in the home. The old unscented lava soap was great for greasy and dirty hands - I have no idea what the new version can do or what changes the new manufacturers have made to the soap action, other than the completely unbearable new stench.
