While I don't really need this little thermometer that doesn't satisfy my instant read sensor or my candy thermometer, it's a smart device and it works as it should. occurred. I've tested it in hot liquids and compared its readings to two other devices and it's accurate and seems pretty quick to respond. I still haven't seen any steam build up, but I haven't used it for long cooking like in a slow cooker. Mine stayed upright in the liquid even if it moved a bit, but not at full boiling point. The buoy fits snugly over the thermometer and is easy to peel off for cleaning. Not sure if they mean it's dishwasher safe or the whole thermometer, but I just gently wipe mine with soapy water and it comes out nicely clean. Works as expected, hence the four stars. If you use this more often than me, I recommend it.
