At first I thought it wouldn't work because I was never able to fetch anything other than some static hashes and that's it. Even after I set up my first repeater, I listened for hours and heard nothing. I was sure something was wrong with it, so I bought the Baofeng brand (looks almost identical). I received Baofeng and as soon as I set up the repeater, I immediately started listening to the conversation. Then I turned on this radio and voila, it worked great. I think I just didn't have the patience. I'm surprised at how much this little thing can capture, but this is my first amateur adventure before taking the test. So, I'm listening right now, but I'm getting loud and clear signals. It's not very intuitive, but the instructions that come with it are a simple guide to tuning and tuning frequencies. I look forward to your answer. Either way, with all the accessories that come with it, it's a steal. And no, I bought a second radio, I plan to keep it in my car with a hand held CB style mic and I will be able to move around a bit if needed. 73
