This is much better than the "Cone of Shame" for many reasons. First, it doesn't block their vision or hearing, which can be uncomfortable for many cats. Second, there are no sharp edges and it won't stick to things like a plastic cone. After all, it's incredibly amazing. I would not recommend this for larger cats (mine only weighed 5lbs at the time of neutering) as while the neck opening could fit them, the outer circumference is probably not large enough to prevent a large cat from getting in to the surgery site or to the hot spot. For the same reason, I would also not recommend this if the surgical site is on an appendage such as a foot or tail. Also, don't forget to take it off before feeding wet food! My kitty dipped the rim right into his bowl (my fault, actually) and made a big mess. Thankfully, it's easy to machine wash and tumble dry to hold its shape and fluffiness.
