Review on πŸ”¦ STREAMLIGHT 88065 Pro Tac HL-X 1000-Lumen Tactical Flashlight - Dual Fuel, High/Low/Strobe, with 2x CR123A Batteries and Holster by Jacob Richardson

Revainrating 1 out of 5

The HL-X can be 50 lumens brighter than the standard HL, but with a terrible clip

I bought 4-5 Protac HL 750 lumen flashlights and gave them away, except for the one my wife has kept . I had to order a flashlight for myself and came across the HL-X with 1000 lumens. I ordered one to test and maybe the second as a replacement for my wife's 750 lumen. I turned on the flashlight and wasn't impressed. The brightness is slightly brighter than the HL 750 lumens. For my part, the new HL-X and old HL have the same brightness, but the HL-X has a slightly sharper beam edge (where light stops and darkness meets it's crisp and not faded). That's all. The body of the flashlight is the same as the HL, the brightness is the same as the HL, but the clip is screwed to the frame of the HL-X, but the problem is that the clip is bent where it fits is possibility to remove the rear cover. The clip is weak - it moves easily on the pockets. It's supposed to be a reversible clip, but in an attempt to keep baseball cap users happy, they ruin it for everyone else. You can get the same by buying HL and getting a tighter clip. tl;dr - The Protac HL 750 is pretty much identical to the HL-X 1000, but the HL 750 costs a little less, has a wider light output, and a better clip. It's not 1000 lumens - more like 800. UPDATE - Sent back for exchange. Got a replacement - the new HL-X I got could be 50 lumens brighter. It was tested in pitch black surroundings outside of a country town. I am very disappointed with the HL-X and the clip is very flimsy making it difficult to remove/replace the connector. It looks and feels like the Protac HL 750.

Cons
