These are bright! Blow Halogens Out of Water

So I made a tail light modification for my 2002 VW Golf by adding extra brake lights on each side (it's called a "5 stop light modification"). In short, you bridge the wires from your original brake light on the lamp holder to the normally empty "fog" lamp holder spot. It's easier to be seen by people behind you, especially in the sun. I needed a light for this spot. Originally I had a halogen because that's all I had handy, but with LEDs, which draw MUCH less current, this would be ideal because it would do two things: 1) not overload the circuit (brake wires are small) 2) the CANBUS of the car would not affect (ie. For example, if you try to put an LED without resistors in the place of the main brake light, you will get a "bulb out" warning because the car can hardly see the load - old cars with turn signals instead of brake lights or Hyperflare (these. MKIV Golf does not detect brake l Burnt out bulb) In any case, the problem with LEDs is that they do not scatter diffuse light like halogens. They are usually light, but never "fill" the body with light. After a simple install I clipped something onto the brake pedal so I could go around the back and check. These LED bulbs are VERY bright and easily fill the case with light. Very happy with the result of the 5th mod of the brake lights and these lamps. I can't say anything about durability yet, but should they fail prematurely, there should be a guarantee. That's better than changing lightbulbs every few months, but with halogens!
