Review on 🎧 Space Grey Bowers & Wilkins PX5 Wireless On-Ear Headphones with Noise Cancellation by Aneta Trzonkowska ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I like everything, the price and quality are acceptable.

For a long time I used marshall major 2 and sony wh-1000xm2. The first ones liked everything except the sound, plus three years later they began to fall apart. Sony had great sound and excellent noise reduction, but her ears got very tired after a couple of hours of being in headphones. Both of them kept the battery perfectly, and the Marshals also had a wired microphone that was very convenient for calling at work. When I decided to choose new headphones, I went to the salon, listened to different models, and eventually settled on the B&W PX5. I also have acoustics of this brand at home, so I was predisposed to the brand in advance. At home, the first feeling of the sound was very strange - it was worse than it was in the store: flat, little bass, somehow without a soul at all. I even compared with the Marshals and through the bluetooth the difference was minimal. Decided to give them time to "sing". Tellingly, they can only be used with a wire when they are on, unlike the Marshals and Sonya. I don’t really understand why (especially if you don’t need noise reduction), but ok. After 2-3 weeks, according to my feelings, they began to play better. Maybe I'm just used to it, and it seems to me, but now if you make a comparison with the Marshals, then B&W sound much better. I listen through macbook via bluetooth and wire (without an additional amplifier) and through the phone. I now work remotely and have to call colleagues often. Not to say that I expected a lot from the microphone built into the headphones, but after the first two complaints, I switched to the microphone built into the laptop. I don’t have the biggest head, but after 2-3 hours of use, they start to press from above even if they are completely pushed apart :( You can’t check this in the store. And this is already a problem. You have to constantly move them, or change them to other headphones. The noise reduction here is mediocre, the noise from the street from the open window does not interrupt. In general, the headphones are normal, but for this money and from this brand, I expected more.

Pros
  • At first, I didn’t like the sound, but after a month there is a feeling that they “warmed up” and now there are much fewer claims on the bluetooth, but it’s generally good on the wire. Nice materials and good build quality. Convenient carrying case.
Cons
  • They press on the head even when fully extended. The microphone is very weak. When making calls from a laptop, it is better to use the built-in microphone, and not from headphones. Relatively short battery life.
