Review on Fujifilm FinePix Z900EXR Digital Camera Black - 16MP CMOS Sensor, 5x Optical Zoom, Touchscreen by Hector Sosa

Fuji Z900exr is a very good camera in many ways. I returned the Sony TX55 which was great and small. The reason for the return was that there was no easy way to turn off icons and data while browsing - showing photos to friends, etc. Each swipe brought them back for 4-5 seconds, cluttering the view. z900 was perfect. There was an icon to just disable all icons and data (except the little icon in the bottom right corner to bring them back). The screen is also much more responsive, at least for me. The TX55 was too sensitive - often just hovering the mouse over the icon would work. The Z900 is also a small camera, albeit significantly larger than the TX55. Right now I'm looking for an ultra-compact lens with a non-retractable lens. It doesn't have to be touchscreen, but it seems to be most, with my other settings. I could have kept the z900 if it wasn't for what I believe to be a design flaw. Mine might have been defective that way, but it's most likely a really bad design. The fact is that when zooming during video recording, the camera invariably defocused until the zooming stopped. No other camera I've used does this. It's downright disgusting. Who wants to see a blurry image every time they zoom in? Low light video sensitivity wasn't great either - much worse than my 3 year old Casio S12. The looks of the z900 are excellent. It feels well made, if a bit heavy. It's a few millimeters larger than my S12 in all directions and I was hoping to make it smaller or the same size. The Z's IQ (image quality) was pretty good, although surprisingly not much better than the older s12. The TX had a better IQ than either in most cases, although the actual resolution (rather than overall color and appearance) was actually no better than the z or s (taking into account the difference in megapixels). So I'm still looking. I tried the Sony Tx5 and it seems to cover all my needs. Small, non-protruding lens, waterproof (!) and with a function to disable icons. However it is 2 years old and only 10mp (I have s12 12mp). The IQ Tx5 is superb. Sony TX10 is similar but you cannot turn off data and icons! So I'll wait for the newly announced TX20 and keep my fingers crossed.
