Review on 🧡 Dritz 562- Tailors Ham Sewing Tool: Optimal for Seam Stress Relief and Precision Stitching by Wendy Rodriguez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

mildew smell.

I already knew this tailor's ham because a friend has one. I like the size and shape and the materials suit me. I haven't had any issues with fabric melting or anything like that. I don't know what's wrong with that, but it smelled like mold right out of the box. I put it in a bag with several packets of desiccant and hope this helps get rid of the smell. Because it's full of sawdust, there's nothing you can do to clean it. I haven't really seen where anyone else had this problem, so maybe it's a coincidence for me? I'll give it some time and update when it goes live ok. As for the cancer warning on the label, that's because it's full of sawdust (not cancer-causing sawdust that's soaked in chemicals, just plain sawdust that hasn't been chemically treated). Apparently, inhaling plain sawdust (like chopping wood and breathing that air) can cause cancer. You don't inhale those sawdust (they're completely covered), but that makes no difference to California cancer prevention. So as long as you don't cut it open, throw it in the air and inhale it all, you'll be fine. Update: after leaving it in a bag with some desiccant packs, the smell is almost gone. I sprayed some Febreze in and now it smells nice so I upgraded it to four stars. Annoying but glad it worked. I don't know why the manufacturer doesn't ship it with something that absorbs odors and moisture.

Pros
  • sewing
Cons

This ham is underdone! Needs improvement.
