I bought 4-6. My granddaughter is a size 5 and needs to be stretched to fit. Once is ok. The legs tended to creep up and in the first gymnastics lesson there was a lot of leotard pulling. She likes it more than a regular jersey or bike cut, but that might be because she likes the pattern. I gave 4 stars because the legs creep up. Good quality and cute style. A little undersized. When in doubt, order. Maybe a leotard would be good for gymnastics.
