We bought these snowshoes for our boys as they have never needed actual snowshoes. I didn't want to waste an arm and leg because I knew they would outgrow them before next year. I was lucky we ordered them and they arrived the day before we had 8 inches of snow! A few things to look out for: - They have a faux fur lining which adds a lot to their softness and warmth - The buckles are functional but just for show They don't really tighten or loosen the boot. The buckles are on a Velcro strap for easy on and off. I ordered what I thought was a size larger than what my boys wear to allow for thick socks and hopefully get an extra year of use. I ordered a 11.5 for my toddler who wears a 10/10.5 and I ordered a 1.5 for my older son who wears a 13.5. Both fit like a glove! We will be able to wear them again next year but so far they are working great. I would say a size up for current wear and 1.5/2x for durability. We love her. Played for many hours in 8" snow. They never complained of cold feet and stayed dry to the bone. Highly recommended and will be ordering again in the future!
