I bought two and I love the look but it is a very light wood. Maybe balsa wood? The shelf seems sturdy once set up properly, but I wouldn't put too much or anything heavy on it. I was going to put oil and vinegar glass bottles on top but decided to use them for spices and plastic bottles for supplements instead. I also hang potholders, towels and other kitchen items on hooks. The bar holding the hooks is also supported by the hooks, so the bar is not permanently installed. Overall I love the look and they help clear some things off the kitchen counters so they're great in that regard. Putting them together isn't difficult, but don't expect everything to line up perfectly.
