I've had this for a year and a half, so good. Bought when I put up a tank for the first time in over a decade. Aquarium and lighting have come a long way since the last time I tried to get a planted aquarium. I didn't want to spend too much without knowing if my new tank would be successful. It was probably too bright at first and the programming can be a little intimidating, but I learned more about the spectrum and growing plants trying to set up this light. I am now using an external timer mainly due to power outages in my area causing the schedule to go offline. I have not been gentle with this light, it has fallen multiple times, at least once into the tank (I quickly tugged the cord and let it dry for a few days before turning it back on) and out of the tank a few times. If I have one complaint about this light, it's the uncomfortable supports. I could try hanging it from the ceiling. Most of the plants I've grown are fairly basic: Anubias, Cryptocoryne, Dwarf Sagittarius, Ludwigia, but I also have Tiger Lotus. The spread of this light isn't that wide, I see some people doubling it, but I think the narrower light works well for my fish to be able to hide behind it whenever they want. Even with the light directed forward, my sponge filters are less visible on the back. I checked my order to see when I bought this because I saw the fancy expensive light and was thinking about taking it up a notch and I was surprised by some of the reviews so I thought, I would share my experiences.
