Review on πŸ–ŠοΈ Enhanced Apple Pencil (1st Generation) by Ivan Carson

Feels like a real pencil and works just like it. An artist's dream come true!

It's everything I dreamed of, it's the first stylus I've ever used that looks and works like a pencil. It's really responsive and the iPad Pro's palm recognition is so awesome that I can easily use it in any app. I've been using the pencil for about three weeks now and unlike a stylus it feels very natural in my hand. The pencil senses whether you're holding it straight or at an angle, and the lines get thicker the more you tilt it. It works great in Notes app and pretty well in other apps. I'm sure other apps will offer updates for iPad Pro soon. Procreate is one of the art apps that has full Apple Pencil support and it's amazing. However, this is a difficult application to use as it offers amazing features for advanced drawing and painting. Luckily, it comes with a full-featured book that explains how it works. Some apps like Sketches are easier. Check out the sample image sketched in 10-12 minutes (Sketches app). The pencil can also perceive light and strong strokes and mark them accordingly. I tried it in the pencil mode in the Notes app and it's amazing. Depending on the pressure, it can make very light lines and dark lines. See pictures for more details. It only works on iPad Pro (not other iOS devices) and you need to turn on Bluetooth to use the pencil. It's available from Apple for $99, so don't overdo it. I read that Steve Jobs didn't like the idea of a stylus. He can sleep soundly as it is not an old stylus but an ideal productivity tool to unleash your creativity. I used to use all sorts of pens and was frustrated at how little I could do as a beginner in art. To me it looks like a real pencil. Today I was taking notes on paper with a real pencil and wish I had an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil so I could do more while taking notes. I used to get tired fingers after some time on the iPad, and the stylus was no better than my finger. Until now.
