Update After I wrote the review the company contacted me and refunded my money. This is excellent customer service as I did not contact them directly. This means that this company pays attention to the customers' experiences with their product. So I have to change my rating to 5 stars plus the other 2 mugs I bought for family has no issues and they love this product. So I think I just got a defective one. It happens in business and it all depends on how you deal with those setbacks and they've done a great job with that. 5 Stars! At first I liked this mug. I am an avid tea lover and blend different herbal blends to treat different ailments so I was in heaven when I first bought this mug, I even bought a few for family members. After about a month the mug said it's falling apart on me, at first it was the blue rim at the bottom of my tea storage mug that I have tea in, but I can't get to it because I can't unscrew the bottom. Then about a week later the lid started falling apart so now that the tea is steeped and brewed I unscrew the lid and the inside of the lid is still on the mug. Then I have to burst and burn myself. I am so disappointed with this purchase that I had to let my family know who I bought the mug for so they can anticipate these future problems. I am so disappointed. Look for a more reliable mug, this one isn't built to last, but it's worth it. Frank Glaspie
