I've been looking for the perfect smart pen for decades, or just a good alternative to the natural media digital workflow. I've used/tried almost everything. Yes, I have a digitizer tablet (or two), and yes, an Apple Pencil with an iPad Pro (matte screen protector) is the BEST OPTION. However, I really wanted this to work and it didn't. ADVANTAGES: - What a nice thing - a pen and a notepad. - The pen writes well thanks to Zebra replacement parts that don't last very long. - Transfer data smoothly to my iP 7+. However. Most iOS devices KEEP CONNECTING. The pressure sensitivity can be adjusted directly and is easy to adjust. It's great except. DISADVANTAGES: - Print data is not exported as user data. It's in the PDF, but not in the way you'd hope. The best option is that I can export DIRECTLY as SVG data to Adobe Creative Cloud using my iOS. BUT. The incoming data is NOT PLANNED. It's about 1/10th the resolution of the original (open the app, admire your smooth curves, your thick and thin natural strokes, go back to Illustrator. It's all gone). I tried again on a Windows PC and SVG isn't even an option. Images only, Word and PowerPoint. ge There is no macOS version and I don't have anything for Android, so no dice either. - SVG data is bullshit. Forget using this as a base for your sketches and then move on to the digital. What you squeeze out of the app is garbage. How a third grader italicized with a ruler. On the other hand, PDF data is quite usable, but still has a rather low resolution. - Single export. Once it comes out of the pen, you get what you've got. What I mean is that you can't move this data into a windows application for viewing again, you can only export it once. ANIMATION NO. The great advantage of this system is the export of your drawing as an animation. Sure, you can run it and WATCH the animation, but forget about exporting it as ALL. On iOS, if you want to show someone an animation, you must CREATE A VIDEO FROM A VIDEO WITH A SECOND DEVICE POINTED AT THE SCREEN. Which is insanely stupid. On the PC side, you can export voice annotations and there's a button to export videos, but that's not the case. For all. There's TAAAAAAA great potential here to be a game changer for illustrators, but it's just not there. Here's the key point, although I've used all the features it doesn't do what it says on the tin and comes back USED and very very sad in Revain. Thanks to Moleskine and NeoLabs for the lame app, the lousy support and the nice pen. I'm sorry I can't save. I really liked it until I tried using it for something. This product actually has NO support. Moleskine doesn't have an in-house team to help, and NEO isn't paid to support the pen they invented and licensed to Moleskine, so there's no love here either. However, I will be returning this pen and getting a Neo pen. I really liked it and I want the system to work. So if you searched Google for the answer, here it is. The Moleskine Ellipse intelligent writing system is not intended for artists. It's not bad for handwriting capture, but who really cares? i can type
