These are great winter pants and you can see the designers did a great job! The trousers have a wide cut so that functional underwear can also be worn underneath. There are Velcro straps at the waist that tighten the belt a bit. My 4 year old wears pants from size 4T to 5T and size xxs fits him but is not too big. The leg endings are reinforced so the pants won't tear there when they are a bit longer, and the pants have a Columbia Outgrown feature that allows the legs to be lengthened as the kids grow. If my little one doesn't have a major growth spurt, I can well imagine him wearing these pants again next season. He skied in the snow, built snow angels and sleds and stayed completely dry and warm. The only thing I'm missing is a velcro strap that fits snugly around my ankle, but they fit fine on big snow or ski boots.
