Review on High-speed Belkin 100W USB-C ⚡ to USB-C Charging Cable - 3.3ft/1m Length by Vincent Burton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Expensive but honestly there is not much choice between reliable USB 3.1 Gen 2 and 100W USB-C cables

USB C should be the future of USB. If so, then the future is confusing. The same USB-C port can be USB 2.0, USB 3.0 (aka USB 3.1 Gen 1, just to confuse things even more), USB 3.1 Gen 2 (this cable), and Thunderbolt v3. USB-C also supports Power Delivery (PD), which allows you to charge your device at up to 20V 5A, hence the power rating of this cable is 100W. There are very few devices currently that draw that much power or draw that much power can deliver. Anker's USB-C wall charger can only deliver up to 30W via USB-C. Xiaomi has a 45W charger. Google has an 18W charger and a 45W charger. Apple offers an 87W charger recommended for the 15-inch MacBook Pro. Unfortunately, I don't have such a setup to test. The Anker cable actually has a thicker outer diameter. Both USB-C connectors are about the same size and thin enough to connect to slightly recessed USB-C ports, such as on a phone case. The Belkin cable is a bit longer, but the difference is negligible, of course different: The Anker cable only supports USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5Gb/s) and power up to 60W. The Belkin cable supports USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10 Gb/s) and a power of up to 100 W. Both charge my OnePlus 3T with the Anker USB C power adapter at the same speed (tested with a Satechi USB C power meter). 2 is the only one I've seen. The Apple cable is longer but only supports USB 2.0. The Anker o-cable only supports 60W and USB C 3.1 Gen 1 (half speed), but it's also half the price. Anker also has a USB 2.0 CC cable (remember what I said about the confusion?) that doesn't list the wattage rating. . Of course I didn't try that. It's $10 cheaper than this one. Anker PowerLine II USB-C to C 2.0 Cable (6ft). Probably the most durable cable in the world. USB IF Certification for Galaxy S8, S8+, Google Pixel, Nexus 6P, Huawei Matebook, Nintendo Switch, MacBook and other devices to find out what kind of hardware you have, whether you need this expensive cable or can use a cheaper version .

Pros
  • Computer accessories and peripherals
Cons
  • Socket required
