Review on πŸ’Ύ SanDisk Extreme 1TB UHS-I Memory Card: High-Performance microSDXC with Adapter by Jeremy Black

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Big and fast! It's not really the 170MB/s part, the label says 160MB/s

Wonderful product: SanDisk 1TB Extreme UHS-I microSDXC memory card with SD adapter, 170MB/ s Read, 90MB/s Write, as you can see they advertised the 170MB/s read part of SanDisk but only shipped the 160MB/s part as stated on the box! So unfortunately we have to deduct something like half a star. We will update this if the situation changes. In the meantime we have received the part and immediately started testing it at H2testw. New laptop from Hewlett Packard. The card reader only works with 75 MB/s reading and 80 MB/s writing. This makes it the fastest SDXC card we've ever tested. Since we suspect that the card's performance might be affected by the computer, we ported the SDXC to a Ziyuetek USB-C reader. Under these conditions, SDXC could have been slightly faster, with H2testw topping the list at 80.1 MB/s in write, 84.4 MB/s in read, and around 87 MB/s according to the Windows 10 Task Manager. So this SDXC card is probably faster than the hardware we tested it with! We'll update this as we get faster hardware to test with. Meanwhile, this SDXC is the record holder since 2010 when we first got a fast card to turn an underwater camera into a video camera. Some other stats for your planning purposes: Advertised capacity on Windows 10 is 1,023,737,331,712 bytes or 953. GB. The tested capacity is filled with 953 files occupying 1,023,733,137,408 bytes. Writing the full SDXC file took 3:22 hours and reading about 3:10 hours. The test started at 18:33 and ended around 01:00. Has been successfully read at least 4 times up to 12:00. In summary, this SDXC is at least as fast as we tested it. We suspect we'll need faster hardware for SDXC to perform at its full potential. Our SDXC looked to Windows as if it had been formatted to exFAT. Apparently the format was wrong. Worked like a champ with quick format to exFAT. The other formatting available in Windows 10 is NTSC, which is more suitable for an internal drive.
