Great projector with some limitations

After receiving and using this projector for a few weeks I will provide some information that I think I will find useful before ordering would. I have to say before I start beating him that I really like him and he's a goalkeeper. Firstly, this is the "Formovie Diceโ€ M055FGN projector model with the Wemax sticker on the box. Very little information has been released about this projector, but some websites list its brightness as 550 ANSI lumens. I saw a video measuring the wattage of this projector and it was around 550. However, the competitors that were also advertised as higher lumens measured similarly, so I suspect they decided to play the same game to play. One of the reviews here also said they heard it was bumped up to 700 lumens. Hmmm! Regardless, the projector is bright enough in a dim or dark room, but it can't really be used in a brightly lit room. The next area that initially struck me was the bedroom insert, which projects onto the ceiling. There was a response from a seller to a related question here and they said "The projector can be placed on its side for movies, on the ceiling for watching movies in bed" [sic]. That is not right. First, this could only work if you lay the projector on its back and point it at the ceiling. There are two problems with this. First, the power and HDMI ports are on the back of the projector, so you can't lay it on its back when you're not using either. Second, the cooling system pulls air in through the sides and out through the back, so you really have to keep your back clear. With a little skill you can also set it up at an angle, but that's hardly worth it. Projecting from your bedside table won't get you a usable image from above, and trying to lean on your bed is a battle you're likely to lose. Finally, I decided to install a 100-inch 16:9 retractable screen over a cabinet door and mount the projector on a Revain Basics camera tripod. This setup works well for me, although the tripod gets in the way at times. The sound quality is excellent, equivalent to a premium Bluetooth speaker of the same size. The fan noise is audible, but not too annoying. The initial setup was not without problems. It refused to connect to the internet multiple times and even after connecting successfully it still claimed not to be connected. After updating the system and some trial and error, I ended up getting confused. I'm not a fan of Android TV and for all their money I don't think Google has done a good job compared to the competition. Roku devices are cheap and seem to have the best channel selection, so I added one of these to my dice. One quirk I've found is that when you plug something into the USB port (e.g. to power Roku) the Dice powers on with Wi-Fi disabled. You can go into settings and turn it on, but you have to do it every time you turn it on, which is a bit annoying. I got around this by activating Roku separately. The autofocus works well, but the auto keystone correction doesn't work. Most of the time I have to manually adjust the keystone to get it right. Keystone correction has two modes: quick adjustment and fine adjustment. Quick Tune doesn't do anything useful, so I always use Fine Tune. As some others have reported here, I have to refocus every hour or two to keep the image sharp as the focus seems to shift a bit. This is number one on my patch wish list for future updates. The Bluetooth remote works well but is very annoying due to the location of the back button. Why is it in the middle of the three apps/back/home buttons? Why not place it on the left like any other Android device? Everyone including me who uses this remote invariably tends to hit the apps button when trying to go back. This is an annoyingly stupid design flaw. I've seen photos of this projector's remote control with the back button on the left, so it was changed at some point. Also note that the remote control is the only way to control the projector. There are no controls on the projector body other than the power button. The projector can also be controlled via the Android TV Remote phone app, so it's not the end of the world if the remote gets broken or lost. But here is my conclusion. In a dimmed/dark room, point this projector at a 120 screen from 14 feet away and it's AMAZING. It's a DLP projector, but it doesn't have a screen door or rainbow effects. The picture is clear, the colors are bright but natural. Love it. To keep. [4 Month Update] I still feel warm and fluffy about dice, although I don't use them as much as the long summer days start.
