I use them in my cave paintings when I'm wrong. The pointed tip is great for cleaning drips or between points. The tips are harder than rounded ones, won't bend with repeated use, and won't saturate to the point of being unusable. They also work well when trying to apply a small amount of glue to a tiny surface. It also hides shadows well. Do not use in the ears! The end is smaller and stiffer than a rounded cotton swab, and if you don't already know what's better than sticking a cotton swab in your ear, then don't buy it to clean your ears.
