I've had different generation A40 and A50 headsets so I was interested in trying this headset from Astro for less than $100. The first thing that struck me when opening the headset was that it had a decent weight, unlike other cheaper headsets (like the HyperX Cloud Stinger). Although on the head, it feels very light and comfortable for several hours. Note that if you have big ears you should look elsewhere as the ear holes are quite small. I have small ears and mine just fit in them. In terms of sound, they sound very good, albeit a bit heavy when listening to music. For gaming purposes, they sound very good with one exception. I wish their overall volume was pretty low when connected to the Dualshock 4. I raised them fully and they still feel like they need more power. I hooked them up to the Mixamp TR and they really shined. A lot of volume without distortion and very pleasant. Additionally, the quality of the microphone is the Astro's best yet. Clearer than any generation of A40 or A50. A great headset if you want Astro quality but are on a budget. Just be careful with small ear piercings and low volume. . I keep the headset at around 50-60% volume now as anything louder becomes unbearable after about an hour. The only problem now is small ear piercings if you have big ears. Very happy with the sound quality and microphone of this headset.
