I received this flash as a Christmas present in 2010. She has worked well on about 10-15 shoots. Once the diffuser broke for no apparent reason. This didn't bother me as I didn't use it much and I still had a diffuser that could be used with a flash. Some time later the flash turned itself off, I had to press the power button for the display to turn it back on. It was annoying but I could deal with it, but at this point I was seriously considering buying another flash. The flash also fires when you turn your head, which is also annoying when the flash flashes in your eyes every time you try to turn your head. When zooming with flash, it started making a grinding noise until it was turned off and on again. Now why am I giving this 5 stars? I contacted the manufacturer who responded to questions fairly quickly. They offered to collect the old flash upon delivery at my expense and send a new unit. Unfortunately, although this flash was defective, I still needed it and had no idea how long it would take to get a new one. I told them I would most likely consider an alternate flash and thanked them for their time and suggestion. Today I received a package in the mail, a brand new flash! Very cool of them to send me a new device. I really think that if this flash lasts a year it is worth the price considering the cost of a new Canon flash. If you're on a budget and need Flash, get it. If you have money to spend on a Canon then of course go for a Canon, it will be a better quality device and less likely to fail. You just need to weigh up the cost and need. In any case, a flash should be a MUST if you're even a little serious about photography. I'm VERY happy to have the opportunity to get a pretty decent flash at this price point rather than buying something I can't afford right now.
