It was size XL and I got this for my youngest son who is a size L and in terms of length it was what I expected but I think there is a little more room on the inside for layering in a sweatshirt than in any other jacket that has is more suitable. I'm not sure how durable it will be, for now that's my only concern. This is not a ski jacket that can take a lot of beating. The material on the outside is thinner than a ski jacket, but middle schoolers don't go to recess every day and play in the snow like elementary school students. He likes it and he is happy.
