I LOVE this unique shovel! I am an elderly woman with arthritis who retired at the age of 71 and has intensified her reading about ecology and the terrible conditions of our earthly habitat. I wanted to further help monarch butterflies and pollinators by removing "foreign" and "invasive" shrubs and plants from my suburban garden and planting native ones. This wonderful shovel helps me with that. I have some mobility issues but I can handle this shovel. When I dig, I use my Root Slayer. It's incredibly well constructed - solid and balanced. It has a ridge on the top of the blade to help stabilize your foot when pushing. My leg stays in place. I love the unique round handle that feels nice and doesn't slip. And what a job he does! I am removing huge old bushes that I planted 35 years ago. I slice like butter through the incredibly suffocating masses of evergreen evergreens that are everywhere within my borders. (Why have I ever paid a fortune for flat and flat periwinkle groundcover and started them all over the place thinking it would be a good groundcover?) I'm digging the worst dead yellow loam interspersed with rocks since the house was 50 years ago was built years ago. (When I encounter these hidden rocks, I adjust the Root Slayer's incline to avoid them or fall deeper between them and pick up rocks for removal.) I dig suitable, and even large, planting holes for my wonderful native replacement. shrubs, while in the past I have tended to "fictionalize" the estimated size of the planting hole due to the difficulty of digging. This Root Killer Shovel is the most wonderful tool! If anything happens to my Root Slayer (I highly doubt it will last that long) or if it gets stolen (unlikely, but possible), I'll immediately sign up with Revain and buy another one. My garden is transforming from a patch of suburban wasteland into a small but vibrant living space. So many monarch butterflies came to visit me this summer as I continue to plant euphorbia and other native plants. Root Slayer has given me the ability to get my job done and enjoy the benefits that it brings. My Root Slayer is worth every penny and more!
