Professional video, reliable, fun!

for my positive experience with Bebop 2 and the great customer support I received from Parrot. In fact, I've done over 70 Bebop 2 flights and haven't had a single non-user issue to date. I absolutely love the Anafi model. This drone is incredibly small, light and easy to take anywhere. The whole package is extremely easy to use, including flying the drone, downloading the firmware and using Free Flight 6. I've done 12 flights (over 2 hours) and haven't had any issues with Anafi. You can watch all my flights on YouTube by searching for Aaron Schug, they are all recorded in 4K. I will keep updating the review as I fly the Anafi! Flying Tips: Like the Bebop 2 and DJI Mavic drones, this drone is very easy to fly. It basically flies by itself. It keeps its position using GPS and does an excellent job at it. Even in strong winds, the drone remains stable. In fact, with no GPS lock (you can tell by the app telling you if you're stuck or not), the drone still holds its position fairly well, but drifts a bit. This drone has NO collision avoidance sensors. Keep in mind that if you're not careful, he could just fly into something. I personally don't like to rely too much on collision avoidance because it doesn't always work. If you pay attention to your surroundings, you can do without collision avoidance technology. If this is your first time flying a drone, there are a few things I highly recommend you do. It may seem like overkill, but it will save you a lot of money in the long run. Flying a drone can be confusing when playing video games it will feel natural. But it still needs practice. Because of this, I would recommend getting a cheap $20-30 drone that doesn't have GPS fix, auto-hover, or any sort of auto-positioning. When you can reliably navigate your home with a small drone, it becomes easy. Before flying, make sure you have installed all firmware updates for the drone, app and Sky Controller 3. Take your time when launching your drone for the first time. Leave it in video mode for the first flight; Video mode slows down the drone for better video quality. This is great for learning as the drone moves slower. Take your first flight in a large open area like a park. Experience the full potential of a drone in this large outdoor space. Check out gps lock, homecoming, drones, sport mode, you name it. This not only introduces you to the drone and its features, but also ensures that the drone is reliable in functions like the very important homecoming. Perform a flight check before every flight. My flight checks include drone calibration. This takes about 30 seconds and helps ensure the drone's compass is correct. Before takeoff I also check that the propellers are secure, that the battery is locked and that you have a GPS lock on both your drone and your mobile device. Free Flight 6: The new Free Flight 6 app is very user-friendly. If you use Free Flight Pro, you will find that it is a similar but much more advanced application. It's very easy to navigate through the settings, set up a flight plan or use the drone/follow me/cameraman features. The only downside is that you have to pay for the Follow Me and Free Flight features. Fortunately, they are worth their money because they work very well. I see it as an investment in a parrot to make apps work better. I actually received an email from Parrot offering the Follow Me and Flight Plan apps for $0.99 each because I'm a repeat customer! The downside is that I've already bought add-ons and Google Play didn't help me. So if you've had Parrot drones before, you can set up the drone and immediately add it to your Parrot account so they can see that you've bought Anafi. Then wait a week or so to see if you get an offer! Flight/Battery Time: I can't believe how much flight time you can get with such a tiny battery. I really like that Parrot has integrated a light bar into the battery so you can see the charge level. You never want your lipo batteries to go too low or too high when you store them. Let's hope a company makes a charger that gives you more battery data and lets you "save" it like Bebop 2 did. I'm lucky enough to have a phone with a USB-C cable, so charging the battery is very easy for me as I have multiple cables and ways to charge the battery. I noticed that charging the battery takes a long time, hours in my experience. It might be worth buying a GoPro blower to speed up load time a bit. Batteries are also very expensive. If you want a spare or two, it will cost you $99.99 each! Camera: The Anafi's camera is very good and made by Sony. Understandably, Parrot wanted to be recognized as a company that could take the drone more seriously. You have the choice between 4K HDR (30fps), 4k and 1080p (60fps). The camera works very well. As with any camera, it is best to use it in adequate light. My first use of this drone was around 7:30 am under an overcast sky. The video still looked good, but not great (this goes for any camera). When flying in well-lit areas, the quality of the camera really shines. You can achieve a lossless 3X zoom! Zoom also helps to make really cool videos. One of the really nice things about this camera is the ability to look straight up! Range: The distance you can get out of this drone can vary depending on where you fly. If you are in a residential area where there is a lot of Wi-Fi, e.g. B. near houses or hotels, it is very easy to lose your connection. That's the main reason why I think drone manufacturers should move away from Wi-Fi for drones. However, if you fly in an area with very poor or no wifi and within sight, you can get amazing results. I was able to fly a little over two miles, the drone returned home on its own, although it did not completely lose the signal, which seemed strange, but still flew very far. There were even a few houses/shops nearby. When Anafi contacted me, she had 31% battery left!
