I have a 2012 Camry SE. Definitely a very ordinary car. No matter how much I widened the base of this mount it still wasn't enough for a secure fit in my cup holder, I almost gave up until I decided to buy an "extra thick shelf liner" like this https://www . amazon.com/dp/B07CKKVQFP/ref=twister_B07BTNWFNB?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 (unless I have a very fat guy) that I had on hand. Wrapped two layers of this material around the base, and voila, the mount was finally tight enough to secure in the cup holder. I recommend buying the extra thick liner version for more padding, although I think you could just use more regular layers. Something like this mount, which needs to be securely fastened in order to use it, should come with a gasket. Clients don't have to wind it up for it to work. For one or two strips of padding, the manufacturer would need a few cents more. Given the lack of versatility, I won't be transferring this mount from my car to rentals as planned. It's not something I want to mess around with on the street. Also, I heard strange noises when tightening the base and it didn't sound very good. Durability is a concern. Once inside, it's best not to move it. I like the long neck as I don't have to look down too far. I'm glad I bought the advanced version. But the throat is shaking. You need to fix it more tightly. As long as my liner lasts I am quite happy with this mount. Since I already had the liner on hand, it didn't cost me anything extra to get this mount working. But keep in mind that you may need to purchase something extra to have this mount fit your cup holder and this additional cost needs to be factored in.
