The lighting isn't very bright so don't expect a disco in the living room while you're away. But when placed correctly, it ONLY looks like someone is watching TV when looking in from the outside. I think a lot of bad reviewers just put that in front of their TV or point straight out the window and say "done" - both are bad ideas. It's not the product's fault that you didn't read the instructions. It takes about 15 minutes to install on a wall near a window with blinds or curtains. When you find the right place you will know. And nobody looking out of the yard could tell the difference. Some reviewers called it bullshit because the light pattern is said to have a loop. I've tried, but I can't find a pattern in my life. If it took you this long to remember a bunch of randomly blinking LEDs, I don't know what to say. No one in their right mind will ever notice the repeating pattern in these lights, especially a passing burglar looking for a simple punch and grab. I do not recommend this for the living room, not for the master bedroom. Think small to medium sized bedrooms. I think for larger rooms a more expensive (brighter) model would be more convincing. Only 4/5 stars because I just can't compete with the price they charge for a couple of flashing LEDs in the box. But hey i bought it, right?
