This is a great table and for the money you can't get better. Two things: 1. The table is not black. However, it is a very dark brown and unless under direct light it can (and often does) appear black. Here's the thing: If you're attached to a beautiful cherry blossom site, don't buy this table because you will be disappointed. 2. The table is really easy to assemble as everyone says. I'm about as far from a DIYer as you can imagine and I put it together in under fifteen minutes. And if I can do it, then anyone can. The only issue I had was that the screw holding the handle to the table was too short. I took the whole box (which turned out to be a wise decision) to a hardware store and they hooked me up. And while I was there, I bought a polished brass handle (for only $2) to replace the one that came with the table, which sucked a bit. Overall I am happy with my purchase and am planning to purchase another one for my entryway.
