I wear them with water boots when I go kayak fishing. When you dip your foot in the water, the feet don't seem to get wet, but the top of the sock still keeps the water in the fabric. eventually it dries up. But if you wear them for too long, your feet may sweat and retain water inside. Your washing requires attention. Outside the washing machine, the inside of the sock holds water. They must be turned inside out and wrung out before being placed inside out in the dryer. I don't really like the length. I would choose something shorter to the ankles. It almost feels like compression shocks at the top.
