My husband and I love games. We have a whole wall full of games. It might not be our absolute favorite, but we turn it off to play around fairly regularly. I like simple games that can be played in a short amount of time. He likes more complex ones. It's a decent combination of the two styles, probably leaning towards my style. It's not overly complicated, it's pretty short, but it has cool little sand bubbles in it (the man mixing up colors really confuses me. Not sure if that's the problem). Side potions add more dynamic actions to the husband. Is it a ridiculously difficult or challenging mind game? no Is it fun and something you can keep coming back to? Yes. And that's really enough for me. We usually play at night when we play games like Splendor and Lost Cities. Try it. What do you have to lose?
